Role Definition Workshop

Clarify what a role needs, before it goes out into the world.

A single working session that tests a requirement list line by line, so the description matches the work and not the history of its edits.

All offers

What you receive

A role description that reflects what the work actually requires, plus a short note on the kinds of backgrounds from which people tend to do this work well. The note is general: we do not search for, approach or refer any individual.

The problem it addresses

An opening that stays vacant for months is a familiar frustration. The description is sometimes the quiet cause: requirements added over successive rewrites, each reasonable alone, that together describe a rare candidate instead of the work.

How it works

We walk your team through the current description one line at a time and ask whether each line is a task the role must perform or a qualification that has simply accumulated. Separating the two often shows how much can move from required to preferred, or be dropped.

What the session is like

Three hours, up to six people from your team, in a plain working format and not a lecture. Expect open discussion, some gentle challenge to assumptions nobody has questioned for a while, and a document you can use within the week.

Scope and guide price

from ¥17,500

Scope: one three-hour session, up to six participants from your team.

  • Guided working session
  • Revised role description
  • General notes on the kinds of backgrounds that often suit such a role

Suited to an organisation whose opening has stayed unfilled for months. The guide price is confirmed in a written quote, including how consumption tax is treated, before work starts. Payment arrangements are agreed individually in writing.

How the work is checked

At the end of the session we count how many requirements moved from required to preferred and read the new description aloud as a candidate would: could a wider set of qualified people reasonably meet it? Both observations go into the written note.

What it does not cover

It is not a recruitment service. We do not advertise the role, screen applicants or introduce anyone, and we do not promise that the revised description will fill the position or shorten the search. Pay, grading and legal conditions of employment are outside the session.

Next steps

Write to us with a short description of your situation. We will reply to arrange a first conversation and take it from there at whatever pace suits you. A first message does not commit you to anything.
